Scrap That! & The Color Room #58

This month as part of Scrap That!'s 1 year anniversary, the kit club has joined hands with The Color Room. TCR has kindly made color palettes that coordinate with Scrap That!'s May kit.

This week I got to play along with TCR #58-Sun Room.

Loved the soft colors in this... perfect for the project I wanted to work on.

I made the layout below for a gal I work with, she is pregnant and soooo ready to pop- in 2 wks as a matter of fact. One of the other gals at work did a mini shoot for her, so I just edited a few pictures and made her this layout as a gift.

The papers are Prima "Botanical".

Here is a closeup of the blooms that came with the kit.

The Dusty Attic "French Flourish" {DA0273} is from my stash, I did however alter it with the Blue Smoke Perfect Pealrs Mist that came with the kit.

You still have a few more days to play along with this color palette, so be sure to head over to The Color Room.

Also, if you are looking to get your hands on some Dusty Attic goods, stop by Vicky's Etsy Shop as she is a DA Retailer. =)

K off to get creative with my daughter.

Eternal Treasure

So when I think "Vintage/Shabby Chick", these things come to mind....distressing, inking, metal touches, lace...And that is what I created last night.

This layout has alot of sentimental value to it. Not for me but for my best friend, she is the baby in the sink being bathed by her mother. She is 29 years old now but lost her mother to cancer when she was only 2. I wanted to create this for her so that the memory of her mother would still live on.

The papers featured in this layout are from K & Company "". Lots of inking and distressing on this layout to achieve the vintage, weathered look.

I used my Fiskars Precision Fingertip Knife to distress my edges, then inked them. For the corners of my background paper, I used my NEW Fiskars fave 3-in-1 Dot to Dot Corner Squeeze Punch.

I did some fussy cutting with the blue flowers, I cut them out of another K & Company paper. I used my Fiskars Micro Tip Scissors No. 5 for the fussy cutting, talk about very SHARP little handy scissors that get into those very hard to reach corners when wanting to fussy cut intricate floral designs. I have always thought that book pages are a great vintage touch to any project. For this layout, I matted my page with brown cardstock and using my Fiskars Scallop Decorative Edge scissor.

I'm ruthless for using corner punches as border punches. =) Here I used it to add my final touch to the layout. I used the Fiskars "Circles" Corner punch for this.

Now all I need to do is frame this and give it to her as a "Just Because..." gift.
I hope you find inspiration within this layout.
Hope you are all having a great weekend.

Til next time...♥ Karen

Shh Baby--IOD

So we're back from our vacation to Georgia and Florida...and let me just ask.."Why in the world did I come back to Prescott, AZ?!" It's hideous here compared to there. HIDEOUS!!! No sugar coating it! We fell in love with St. Augustine, FL, so much beautiful history in that town and as well as newer developments within it. LOVED IT! ;)

So before we left, I created this layout, just didn't have time to post it with all the chaos of packing. So here I am now sharing it with you.

It features the IOD "Lullaby Boy" paper collection-absolutely stunning papers for baby projects..Love the greens/blues/creams in the line. Who is the little babyboy in the layout you may ask...well he is Elias, Sally Griswolds newest addition to her family. As soon as I saw this photo I knew it'd be perfect to use with her very own papers, as you all know she is one of the creators behind IOD.

Here are a few closeups for you. I've been playing with Dusty Attic quite some bit lately, as I have stocked up on it, their pieces are just so gorgeous! How can you but not fall in love with them. For this piece(Doily #3, DA0481) I painted it with cream acrylic than touched up the edges with olive green ink, then topped it off with some liquid pearls.

Well that is it for now, still need to do massive amounts of laundry and cleaning now that we r home. But I will have some goods to share with you this weekend. =)

Til then, hope everyone has a great night. ♥ Karen

Stuck?! Sketch Reveal--May 1st

Its May! May 1st! Which means 2 things...first, the reveal of the 1st Stuck?! Sketch, second....we leave Thursday for a very exciting family vacation to St. Mary's, Georgia! We are going to check the place out and if it's what everyone makes it out to be and we fall in love then we will start the planning to move! EXCITING! And we're going to Cumberland Island too! Ahh!! Wild horses on the beach!! Holy smokes Thursday will not come fast enough!

Ok so onto the sketch=)
It was designed by one of Stuck?!'s CT members, Julie Winks.

Here is my take:
Featuring Prima "Botanical" papers and gorgeous Prima blooms!
This sketch was my fave to date, it allowed me to design outside of my comfort zone. LOVE IT! Thanks Julie!
I have been doing alot more misting lately, I figured, I have an immense Glimmer Mist um use it dummy!! So I have been =) I misted the background paper to this layout using Frost & Olive Vine.

A quick closeup of the blooms and my latest addiction...crinkled seam binding! Love that stuff!

Well that is it for now! Hope you are all having a great Sunday!
♥ Karen
